who tells me the exact and accurate source of the chai and muffin quote. (“Old ladies come up to me all the time telling me to find God. Look, all I want to find is some chai and a good vegan muffin.”) I’m pretty sure the source exists somewhere on the internet (I think I’ve seen it?), but google only helps me find fansites and other crap.
ON THAT NOTE,
“exact and accurate” sources for any other meaningful and/or genuinely humorous quotes (BY Havok or ABOUT* Havok) are very very welcome and appreciated.
*”About” — either from legit people or legit publications, not random ones
PS. The other kidney goes to the one who can give me the source of that quote that starts with “Hate humanity? Yep, sure do. …” (when explaining the song “Smile”).
/—/ The third line expresses the conviction that there is a future lightened by a fire. The image of fire, which is also part of the name of the band and suggests passion and a certain destructive nature, is here the symbol of a better world. “We ignite” can be understood as an intransitive or a transitive verb. /—/
/—/ This attitude embodies a pursuit of clarity and integrity while demanding a certain readiness to make sacrifices (cf. “Sacrifice Theory”). Many of his works show that Havok sees no other way to achieve peace of mind than by living a life coined by fight and sacrifice. /—/

This is from January 2004, on mtv.com:
AFI just released “Silver and Cold,” the third single from Sing the Sorrow and the follow-up to “The Leaving Song Pt. 2”. /—/ AFI came up with the concept involving the band literally running around the city, and Hillcoat agreed to develop it.
“This one is more plot-driven,” Puget said. “We’ve kind of covered the performance angle, so the ‘Silver and Cold’ video just tells a story. We did a little acting.”
“Prague is very cold,” singer Davey Havok chimed in.
“It’s also very beautiful,” bassist Hunter added.
When their tour wraps in March, AFI will not work on the Electronic music side project Puget talked about in the fall. The guitarist said he was just thinking out loud and that he and Havok never considered recording something outside of AFI.
“It was just a little 10-minute interview in England, so I didn’t think it would ever reach anyone,” he said, laughing.
Repeating because I can’t double-bold it: “and that he and Havok never considered recording something outside of AFI.”
I’m now picturing a world without Blaqk Audio. *shudder*
Before Bright Black Heaven:
“I’ve done something. If I make it through the winter, I will show you.”
Before Crash Love:
“I always fear that I’m going to die before I finish whatever current project I’m a part of, but fear not, we’ve made it”
Guess he wasn’t kidding.

I just enjoy reading how people describe him. >___>

Why is the internet telling me that guy is Michael (Mike?) Marchand?
I guess that explains the hairdo.
An actual published book (New Wave of American Heavy Metal by Garry Sharpe-Young, 2005) says that AFI stands for All Fired Up. I’M SORRY, YOU MUST HAVE CONFUSED THEM WITH THAT METAL BAND, A.F.U.
Which one of you started the middle name nonsense again?
And if you’re gonna quote Wikipedia (you know, that thing anyone can edit), you might as well quote the sources it uses (the BMI thing, and the interview with Adam).
I don’t understand why this keeps coming up though?
Some years ago a whole mess of people were convinced his middle name was Anthony, another nearly equal mess were convinced it was Lee. Now it’s like these people can’t live with the fact that when they thought they knew something about him, they were wrong.
On a related note: I saw someone say Davey has a formspring. He doesn’t. Don’t be stupid.
(After further lurking): WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE. LOOKING SOMETHING UP ON WIKIPEDIA IS NOT “RESEARCH”. It does say some mythical things about his early life, and it’s SUPPOSEDLY sourced from a Metal Hammer interview (February 2003) (as some random person said in the article’s talk page archives, but I don’t know), but I’ve never seen it myself. If you’re that curious, try to find it yourself.
